There's a new search engine out there giving Google some competition. It's Bing, Microsoft's Live Search renamed and repackaged in a sleek, slick design. The new kid on the block aims to give users relevant information quicker, with fewer clicks of the mouse. Unique features include a daily changing background scene of some of the world's most unique places with hidden information links, and the ability to play thumbnail videos by hovering over them. Does Microsoft's attempt to out-Google you hit the mark? You Bing and decide.

Learn about those who made and are still making history with one of our most popular databases, Biography Resource Center + Lives & Perspectives. From Gale:

Biography Resource Center combines Gale biographies with related full-text articles from magazines and newspapers, thousands images, and links to vetted websites. Fully integrated, the Lives & Perspectives Collection module offers nearly 160,000 concise and in-depth biographies drawn from subject encyclopedias published under the highly respected Macmillan, Scribner and Gale imprints.

Students, please take note! The Miami Dade College North Campus Library and the Carrie P. Meek EEC Library are changing their hours.

Beginning Monday, April 6, 2009, the new hours of operation will be as follows:

Saturday 8:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.

The librarian you contact may or may not necessarily be from your own school or city. For example, a Miami Dade College student who uses Ask a Librarian may receive help from a librarian in Jacksonville, Sarasota, or the Keys.
